Why Staunford
We are named after the exceptional Medieval lawyer, politician and academic William Staunford. Staunford graduated in law from Oxford, and was called to the bar in 1536. he went on to become a Member of Parliament for Stafford in 1542 and Newcastle-under-Lyme in 1547 Parliament. Between 1542 and 1555 he joined many royal commissions, sitting on the bench all over south west Britain. He became a serjeant-at-law in 1552 and Queen's Serjeant in 1553 before knighted. He passed away on the 4th of April 1558. Throughout his career he was known for his erudition, especially legal knowledge, and honesty, all values that we actively promote amongst our pupils.
Staunford Law actively promotes all of Staunford’s values amongst our pupils through a programme based on three guiding principles. Bespoke education which supports students to reach their maximum potential on their own path. Erudition or scholarship, expecting and teaching our subjects at the highest levels. And application within the community, where students are tasked with using what they have learnt using it in the world around them.
